Breast lift

Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that lifts the breast by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissues to reshape and support the new breast contour. A breast lift can rejuvenate your shape and achieve a more youthful and lifted breast contour. A woman's breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from Pregnancy ,Breastfeeding, Weight fluctuations, Aging, Gravity, Heredity.

Application/Action

Breast lift (mastopexy) can be achieved through a variety of techniques depending on your breasts. The appropriate technique for you is determined based on ,the size and shape of your breast , the size and position of your nipple, the degree of sagging of your breast , the quality of the skin, the elasticity, and the amount of extra skin. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and there are three basic types of accesses: Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

  • The peritoneal approach
  • The peritoneal approach with a vertical incision (circumvertical incision)
  • The peritoneal approach with a J or inverted T incision
  • The ideal technique for you will be thoroughly discussed with Dr. HONDRALIS.

During surgery and under general anesthesia, the mass gland is lifted and reshaped in order to improve the contour of the breast. The nipple and areola are repositioned to a naturally more youthful height. If necessary, the enlarged nipples are reduced by excising excess skin from the perimeter. In addition, the excess skin of the rest of the breast is also removed in order to restore the loss of elasticity. After reshaping your breasts and removing the excess skin, the breast is sutured together in several levels to support the new breast. These are all internal and you will not need to remove stitches yourself. The incisions are permanent, but in most cases will discolour and improve significantly over time.

Return to everyday life

Post-operatively, you will have gauze or bandages on the incisions that will be gradually reduced. If drains are used, these will be removed in one or two days at the latest. You will need to wear an elastic bandage or bra to minimize swelling and support your breasts during healing. In most cases, patients return home that evening or the next day at the latest.
